I'm considering running a RCA cable extension from the Aux In on the back of the radio to beneath the helm and connect the the new cable there so that I have control of the IPOD from the captain seat. One problem is that you can't pause the song with your remote but you can still mute. It is my opinion that there are some definite audio advantages in switching to this type of connection compared to using the headphone connection plus you get the benefit that your IPOD will charge while connected. I also noticed that there was definately more base vibrations when using this newer cable. I immediately noticed that the volume was just a slight bit louder and possibly a little clearer. I disconnected that cable and connected my new cable and played the same song. The IPOD volume was turned all the way up it sounded good with no problems noted. The Aux In sensitivity was set to high and the Clarion Volume was set to 12.įirst I connected the IPOD using the white headphone jack to RCA cable picture above. I also have my 60w Kenwood KSC-WA801 power subwoofer hooked up as well. I hooked everything up in my workshop except instead of using my boat speakers I'm using a couple of House stereo speaker (JBL 500s I think). This cable plugs in the bottom of the IPOD and uses a line out signal instead of using the 3.5mm headphone jack and it also connects to the power supply so it will charge the IPOD when connected. I also got the IPOD connection cable pictured below. I just picked up a used Clarion XMD3 (has Aux in) to replace my XMD2.
